The sample bid begins with Demolition Line Item 245 (the construction phase). Prior to construction is the Designs or Drafting phase, which can vary in cost depending on the design and the number of iterations. Permit fees vary as well. In this, example the permits from the City of Los Altos were around $1,800 (excluding Plans).
As you read down the line items, pay attention to the “notes” column for additional information on that particular phase of the project.
Sample Billing

We invoice as construction moves through each line item. In general, an invoice will mirror the bid in sequence and will indicate whether the Line Item is a progress payment or a final payment. We invoice every two weeks for work completed.
